Reduce Holiday Stress With These 3 Hacks

A simple internet search will reveal endless articles and postings regarding how stressed people tend to get over the holidays, especially at Christmas time.

A couple of the main reasons tend to be hosting friends and family members at your house, as well as shopping for presents.

Both of these introduce an enormous amount of stress to most individuals because, let’s face it, we all care about what other people think of us.

With that in mind, we’ve taken the liberty of providing you with 3 life hacks to help you better prepare for the dreaded holiday season.

#1) Declutter in advance

Regardless of whether you tell people you don’t mind what their home looks like when you come over, we ALL actually prefer to live in a clean and safe space. So, as you make your way through the year, think about things you actually need versus things you can get rid of.

Do you really need that room full of old grungy soccer shoes and heels that look like they’ve been to more college frat parties than all other heels put together? Chances are you don’t, and it’s best to donate or properly dispose of those before the holiday season rolls around and you’re left trying to scramble to fit that task in with the 100 other things you have to get done.

Find a good charity if the shoes are still salvageable. If they aren’t, and you still don’t want to deal with that room cleanout as you plan for the holidays well in advance, give Junk Raider a call and we’ll take care of everything for you.

#2) Keep decorations up year around

This one is optional and definitely not for everyone, as some HOA’s won’t allow it and not everyone wants year-round Christmas decorations, we get it. That said, most of us enjoy Christmas lights (and other décor) as long as your house doesn’t look like the Griswolds.

The roof line trimmed with a nice set of white lights, or a simple door wreath can be appealing any time of the year. And guess what? When the holidays roll around you have half the battle done! All you have left to do is maybe throw a reindeer out in the front yard or put up a Christmas tree (obviously).

And when the season is over, make sure you dispose of that tree or else you might catch something you’re not expecting. If you want to lift ZERO fingers, call Junk Raider and we’ll come haul it away.

#3) Remember what the holidays are all about

Most of us get caught up in the presents, the decorations, the food and drink and all that comes with the month of December. But, it’s always a good practice to keep in mind why we’re all here and what the holidays really mean.

It’s time to count our blessings and spend time with those that we love. If you keep this perspective (and implement the other two hacks above), you’ll experience the best holiday season imaginable.

We love the holidays here at Junk Raider, not only because we’re all very fortunate to be able to celebrate the season like the rest of you, but because we get to help take out a boatload of stress from all of you by aiding you throughout the year when it comes to decluttering.

Having a home full of unnecessary items only compounds over time if you do nothing about it. So as you think about getting rid of items throughout the year, just know that you are not only giving yourself peace of mind during all of the other months of the year, but you’re also checking off one more box of that already hefty “holiday to do list.”

And of course, Junk Raider is here to help every step of the way.
